About the artist I am originally from Pittsburgh PA where I lived for 18 years. I began my interest in photography during my youth and I began to take pictures in my early teens. I had my first darkroom by the time I was 15 years old, and I still use the first enlarger that I bought over 30 years ago. During high school I worked at a part time job as a wedding album print maker until I entered university. I received a BS degree in chemical engineering at Cornell University in 1977. Afterwards, I began my career as a specialist in the manufacture of chocolate for a major food company. I continue in this career to this day. After university, I retained my interest in photography, although without any particular focus. I exhibited prints with various camera clubs in Syracuse NY and Columbus Ohio and generally endeavored to build my skills in the area of color print making. I have been a resident of Columbus since 1994. Much of my portfolio takes a more focused approach towards producing prints that would express the beauty contained in flowers and gardens. This also ties in well with my career since I tend to travel to locations both in the US and in Europe. My objective has been to capture and represent the colors, the textures, and the shapes that are presented in flowers and gardens. Without specializing in particular types of flowers, I have instead tended to focus on scenes where the gardeners have achieved a spectacular composition of colors and textures. More recently, I have been producing prints that capture the delicate complexity and infinite variety contained in the form of trees. For this endeavor I have relied upon the capabilities of digital imaging to expand the overall ability for expression. |
